Happy New Year! 2020 starts off on the good foot with a Jazz Festival, inspiring art installations, bustling country markets & more. Here’s a short list to get you started this January!
LightArt: The Botanical Series
Seattle architect and designer, Ryan Smith, combines art, nature, and design to craft his custom lighting creations. The Botanical Series was inspired by the flowers that dot the landscape of the pacific northwest. Lush rhododendron and cherry blossoms, elegant foxglove, columbine and snowdrops as well as a cluster of chartreuse blossoms, inspired by biophilia, reinforces that nature is a constant source of inspiration for Ryan and his team of artisans. His installations may be seen in airports, hospitals, and resorts as well as in residences across the world.
Tucson Desert Art Museum: Delilah Montoya: Sed, The Trail of Thirst
Installation from this award-winning artist focuses on the hardships migrants face while crossing the border and pays homage to the bravery of individuals who have perished on the journey, at the Tucson Desert Art Museum. Exhibition made possible through the Andrew Smith Gallery in Tucson.
Tucson Roadrunners Ice Hockey: Tucson Home Games
Watch the Tucson Roadrunners cross hockey sticks with competing teams at the Tucson Convention Center Arena in downtown Tucson. The Tucson Roadrunners are the American Hockey League affiliate of the Arizona Coyotes ice hockey team. During the 2019-20 season, home games take place on select days, from October 18 through April 4. Consult the website for schedule information.
