January certainly does seem to be the month of music here in Tucson, with the Jazz Festival continuing into the 2nd half of the month, the Desert Song Festival, Gem & Jam Festival, and many more opportunities to catch some live music and local culture!

Tucson Desert Song Festival: The American Voice
The Tucson Desert Song Festival announces its 8th Annual Festival, a celebration of the American voice with a gathering of world-renowned classical singers exploring the colors, rhythms, and melodies of America’s rich and complex musical character. Ten of Tucson’s leading performing arts organizations explore America in music with such leading vocal artists as superstar soprano Renée Fleming, renowned tenor Matthew Polenzani, Thomas Hampson, Ian Bostridge, Morris Robinson, and Reginald Mobley. Local performance groups include Tucson Symphony Orchestra, Arizona Opera, Grammy-winning True Concord Voices and Orchestra, Ballet Tucson, and Arizona Theatre Company, among others.

Broadway in Tucson: The Play That Goes Wrong

Tucson Rodeo Parade Museum Tours

Downtown Tucson Jazz Fiesta
The Yolo County Line is headlining the Downtown Tucson Jazz Fiesta on MLK Day as part of the 2020 Tucson Jazz Festival. Enjoy the day with free jazz on four stages all over downtown Tucson.
The Jazz Fiesta is a daylong party and the grand finale of the 11-day Tucson Jazz Festival. World-class jazz acts ranging from straight-ahead to contemporary jazz are staged indoors and outdoors at multiple venues in downtown Tucson, including The Fox Tucson Theatre, Rialto Theatre and Leo Rich Theater. The Downtown Jazz Fiesta also features beer gardens, food trucks, art demonstrations and interactive experiences, and the eclectic bars and restaurants of downtown Tucson. The annual HSL Properties Tucson Jazz Festival runs for two weeks every January. (January 10-20, 2020)

Gem & Jam Festival
The annual Gem and Jam Festival is held each year during the world-renowned Tucson Gem, Mineral and Fossil Showcase, making this special weekend a perfect pairing of music and art for gem enthusiasts and festival-goers of all kinds. Featuring both prominent internationally and nationally touring names in the jam and electronic music scenes, music remains the main attraction for many, yet the festival also features artists of all mediums, including visual performers, live artists, arts and crafts along with workshops and lectures, food vendors and high-end art galleries.
