Bisbee Pride Weekend
Bisbee Pride’s zany 15th annual GLBT pride celebrates diversity with a street fair, a parade, and dancing in the streets on Father’s Day weekend.
Primavera Cooks! at Feast Restaurant
Feast restaurant hosts a wonderful culinary experience as part of the Primavera Cooks! Summer Dining series, which includes multi-course, wine-paired, gourmet dinners created by some of Tucson’s top chefs, with help from apprentice chefs and sommeliers, and served at select local Tucson restaurants. Unless otherwise noted, all dinners begin with a reception and check-in at 6-6:30 with dinner seated at 6:30pm. All reservations are made through Primavera, NOT the host restaurant. Saguaro Fruit Harvest
High summer is the beginning of the O’odham calendar, as this is the time to harvest saguaro fruit. Spend the morning gathering and preparing fruit in the O’odham manner, using a harvesting pole made from the ribs of the giant cactus, then learn how the fruit was traditionally cooked into a sweet syrup. The class will discuss other desert plants that were important food sources for native peoples and about the animals that use the saguaro for food and shelter. Registration required. 1 day class – either June 21 or June 22.
Friday Night Live Summer Jazz Series
A series of free, evening jazz concerts is presented at Geronimo Plaza on alternating Fridays, April 12 – August 30, at 7:30 p.m. The concert lineup features a variety of local musicians. Most performances will last 90 minutes. Coupled with delicious food from nearby local restaurants, the evenings provide a great way to begin the weekend. Geronimo Plaza is located at Main Gate Square, between Park Avenue and Euclid Avenue on University Boulevard. Salute to Buffalo Soldiers Days, Tombstone
This is a celebration to salute the Buffalo Soldiers, sponsored by the Wild West Detachment Marine Corps League and the Merchants of the City of Tombstone. The celebration includes street entertainment, a parade, and many other events to be announced.
